Yard Upgrades
Our four yard spaces have had some wonderful upgrades in recent times - new murals, basketball hoops, climbing walls, foam balls, building equipment etc.
A huge thank you to everyone who has helped in our school community with fundraising for the benefit of our students.
Yard Games Programme
We run our Yard Games Programme throughout the school for the month of October every year. This programme has been very successful in helping our pupils become more comfortable with yard time.
Our older pupils engage in peer teaching - they work in small group settings and they teach our younger pupils new and exciting games to play at yard time.
There is an emphasis placed on fair play, turn taking and being kind to others. Strategies to help decision making in games are also taught. Our pupils really enjoy this initiative.
Aside from the many benefits listed above, it also provides a great opportunity for our pupils to get out in the fresh air and most importantly, to get active!
Murals
In recent years, 6th class students have worked on a mural as a year group each year. This is to be left as a memory of them after they have graduated from The Harold. These were wonderful projects which included the children each step of the way - planning, designing, sketching and painting. They had a real sense of achievement after completing the project each year and they have really brightened up our yards, making them brighter more child friendly spaces.
Thank you to the funding from the Board of Management to complete these projects in conjunction with Bloom the Art Project.
